Terms & Conditions

By submitting a nomination into the Metro Rod (Cambridge) Ely Local Hero Awards, you agree to be bound by the following terms and conditions:

  1. The closing date for receipt of entries is Monday 29th April 2019 at 12pm. All details are subject to change and are at the discretion of Ely Hero Awards, any changes will be made known.
  2. Nominations should be submitted via www.elyheroaward.org.uk, or posted using the Ely Standard Newspaper Coupon to Ely Hero Awards, C/O Metro Rod (Cambridge), Unit 10 Chettisham Business Park, Lynn Road, Ely, CB6 1RY.
  3. Nominations are accepted from individuals, community groups and businesses living or operating in Ely and surround villages within a 10 mile radius of Ely. Some awards may have other eligibility criteria, please check the individual award details.
  4. Metro Rod (Cambridge) employees are eligible to enter the Awards for work/volunteering outside of their role at Metro Rod (Cambridge). Individuals employed by the Category Sponsors or other businesses that support the awards are eligible to enter for work/volunteering outside their role at the company.
  5. Individuals/ Community groups/ Businesses can enter more than one award, but a separate nomination form must be completed for each category.
  6. Business Sponsors of the Ely Hero Awards may make a nomination, but individual nominations cannot be accepted for the category that business may be sponsoring.
  7. Judges of the Ely hero Awards cannot nominate or be nominated. If a nomination is received it cannot be accepted.
  8. Additional information, if necessary, may be requested by judging panels. These will be arranged with individuals/community groups/ businesses as required. Judges will contact the nominee to verify information provided. Judges will arrange to meet with nominees who are to be shortlisted within each category to decide on a category finalist. Any minor will need to be accompanied by a parent/guardian.
  9. Each award category will be shortlisted to three finalists; with one winner for each award within that category (if appropriate). Each finalist will be required to attend the Award Ceremony at The Maltings on Monday 1st July at 6.30pm, where the winner will be announced. Each finalist will receive 2 additional tickets for accompanying guests to the ceremony.  Additional guests can also attend at a cost of £20 per ticket (where available).
  10. The judges’ decisions are final, and the Judges cannot enter in a discussion about the shortlisting process, choice of finalists or choice of winners.
  11. By entering the Awards, you and the nominee agree to be part of any of the publicity associated with this. Each of the nominees names will be printed in the Ely Standard Newspaper and may be posted on social media sites.
  12. Permission must be granted by the nominee for a nomination into a specific category. In relation to the “Child of Achievement” category, consent from a parent or guardian must be sourced before a nomination is made. If consent is not given, Metro Rod (Cambridge) and Ely Standard Newspaper cannot accept liability or responsibility where consent is not given.
